WELCOME TO STARKEY ELEMENTARY PTA

Proud Home Of The Starkey Bears
Proud Home Of The Starkey Bears
Starkey PTA is responsible for organizing projects, events, activities and fundraisers that benefit Starkey, students and parents. PTA provides an invaluable services to the Starkey community. We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to spare a few hours throughout the year to make your children's school experience the best it can be.

What is a Parent Teacher Association (or Organization)? A PTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of parents, teachers, families and community leaders, who are all dedicated to creating a successful educational experience for children. Faced with shrinking budgets and growing class sizes — not to mention high standards for teacher and student performance — schools today need the support of families and the community.

There are probably dozens of PTA events you know about and at least as many that you don’t know. PTA is a dichotomous organization that is both the lead cheerleader for your school, and the quiet kid in the back of the classroom, studiously getting things done. We are your champions 365 days a year.

Did you know that you don’t have to be a parent to become a member of the PTA? And here’s another pop-quiz question for you:

Whom of the following can purchase memberships:

A. grandparents

B. family friends

C. your cousin Earl, twice-removed

D. all of the above.

If you picked D, you get a gold star! Anyone can become a member, and the more members in your PTA, the more programs and student outreach it can provide.

Did you know you don’t have to volunteer on campus or at events to be a member of the PTA? We’re always in need of volunteers, but we understand that life can be hectic, and you just might not have the time.

This year's Board has planned a jam-packed year of new and returning programs, and we all look forward to seeing you and your family.

So, having read all this, if you are still on the fence about joining, that’s OK. You can still come hang out with the cool kids.

But see me after class.

P.S. Go Starkey Bears!
